Hair Removal

Light Assisted Hair Removal

Why live with unwanted hair? Intense pulsed light offers a safe, long term solution to unwanted excess hair for both men and women. The treatment is suitable for the face and body, is quick and results can be seen after just a few sessions.

How does it work?

Light is absorbed by the melanin (the pigment in the hair follicle). The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the cells in the hair follicle which are responsible for hair growth, without damaging the surrounding cell.

The laser or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area of the skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is covered. For IPL treatments, a thin layer of gel is applied to the skin to help guide the light.

Am I suitable for treatment?

Most people are suitable for treatment. Best results are often achieved with clients who have fair skin and dark hair. Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of melanin. Fair hair however, contains less melanin and is harder to treat. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is not suitable for treatment.

How many treatments are necessary?

Only hair that is actively growing is affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is conducted every 4-8 weeks, depending on the area treated.

Consultation Procedure

Prior to treatment you must first undergo a consultation in order to confirm suitability, during this consultation our trained therapists will also discuss the likely amount of treatments required and a payment schedule.

Red Vein Removal

Intense Pulsed Light

IPL can provide a long term solution to facial problems, such as red flushing (rosacea), thread veins and red spots as well as red leg veins; with minimal down time or risk, in just a few quick and easy treatments.

Which types of veins can be treated?

Most red skin lesions including facial thread veins, rosacea, spider naevi, port wine stains are treated with Intense Pulsed Light, whereas leg veins up to 3mm in diameter are often treated with laser.

How are red veins treated?

Both Intense Pulse Light and laser systems emit light which is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to the point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.

For Intense Pulsed Light treatment a thin layer of chilled gel is applied to the skin to aid light absorption by the vessel. The light is then pulsed over the entire area to be treated. The chilled gel is removed and the area cooled. A similar process is carried out for laser treatment except the chilled gel is not required.

During the treatment, protective eyewear will be worn.

How many treatments are necessary?

Typically 3 to 5 treatments are needed for maximum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session.

Skin Rejuvenation Facial

How does it work?

The treatment can be given using either the IPL (intense pulsed light) system or Nd:Yag Laser. The light stimulates the fibroblast cells within the skin that produce collagen and elastin. The skin becomes firmer, appears more radiant and enlarged pores are reduced. The IPL can be used to help reduce redness, age spots and freckles where by the Nd:YAG can be selected to target deeper lines and promote further collagen production. The multi platform design of the Lumina provides different skin rejuvenation options and the preferred application will be discussed at the consultation.

Am I suitable for the treatment?

Yes, treatment is suitable for most people. From our their late twenties onwards many ladies and gents suffer from premature aging largely due to sun damage and other life style factors resulting in dull, rough skin with enlarged pores, lines and wrinkles and vascular irregularities.

What should I expect during and after the treatment?

The Skin Rejuvenation facial is offered in conjunction with a luxury facial which comprises a deep cleanse, exfoliation then a face, neck, shoulder and décolleté massage, face mask, tone and moisturise. During the IPL or Laser procedure mild discomfort may be experienced often described as moderate and acceptable not unlike a quick pin prick. Please note that changes to the collagen structure or not immediate and best results are often visible several weeks after the treatment.

How many treatments are necessary?

A course of 6 treatments are recommended. These are carried out once a month over a six month period with top up sessions performed as required these can be a few as once or twice a year.
